A charming set of 2 English hall chairs with solid seats. Crenelated top rail, with Family Crest backs. Lovely dark finish with good grain. Made of oak and carved in the bobbin style. Should not be "tipped back" on 2 feet, or scooted across the floor. More for display and occasional use. Old maker’s labels “A. Sherrard, Cabinet Makers, Upholsterers, 44, Granby Street, Leicester”, ad found in Spencers’ new Guide to Leicester, 1868 issue (see photos).

Condition: scratches, dents, marks, some spots of the finish are worn, stains, chips, historical repairs, seats have separated but solid, - beautiful color!
